How we collect data
Short version: we only publish what a provider prints on its own public page, we link to that page, and we show the date we last checked it. We never estimate or fill in prices.
Camps, classes, party venues and leagues
- Each listing points at one public page on the provider's own website (or Mecklenburg County's news releases).
- A program checks every page once a day, early morning Eastern time, at a slow pace, and follows each site's robots.txt.
- Before adding a site, we read its terms of use. Sites whose terms forbid automated access are left out (for example ActiveNet / ActiveCommunities, which runs Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation's registration catalog).
- Each value is read with a pattern written for that page. If a page changes and the pattern no longer matches, the listing is flagged as possibly out of date instead of being guessed.
- Every daily check is saved, so each listing has a dated price history. Changes go to the change log.
- Registration dates are shown exactly as the provider publishes them. Past dates are labeled as past.
- We show public business addresses only, and never personal information.
Parks, playgrounds and splash pads
Park names, addresses and amenities come from Mecklenburg County's public Park Locations GIS layer, re-read daily. Information provided by Mecklenburg County GIS. The county provides the data "as is" and makes no warranty of accuracy or completeness.
Coverage
We started on October 18, 2026 with 25 programs and 394 county parks, and add sources as we clear each one's terms. Missing a camp? Tell us on the listing form.
Independence
We're not affiliated with any provider. Featured listings, when they launch, will be clearly labeled, and paying never changes a price or date we show.
